In 1977, your hosts, Maca and Branko Tkalčec started a life dream of having a topnotch restaurant in a small village of Otrovanec. 

With it's opening, Zlatni klas Otrovanec, was already something new and different yet with a gesture of old and known.  Restaurant's reputation grew soon as guests visited from an entire country; from young people who were enjoying dance parties up to the dinners for important delegations from the world of politics, agriculture, sports, etc. 

Starting with 2 acres of land, parallel with building a restaurant were planted trees which now grew into a nice park.  In the meantime, our property widened into 6 acres and grew to an orchard of 1,000 plum trees.  A creek, which borders our property, and a small pond created a specific rural gardens where guests like to take a walk or a carriage ride in the idyllic old times which makes horses even more attractive as an offer to our guests. 

Due to the absence of horses from once typical Podravina properties, horses are becoming one of the main attractions for this area.  Our present horses (10 of them) are coming from our own breeding stock which would make every stock breeder very proud.  Following modern trends in a tourism Zlatni Klas grew into a well known property of a rural tourism offering a return of an authentic quality of nature, healthy homemade cuisine, socializing with animals and a friendly welcome recognized by a Croatian tourist community making us a bronze winner in 2002 for an interior decor and arrangement of surrounding buildings.

Today, Zlatni Klas Otrovanec is an attractive place for all generations, a place where past supplements present announcing that our future is an endless story which will continue to attract our guests' smiles.
